CEREC Same-Day Crowns in Centerville, OH
Navigating daily life with missing or damaged teeth can be a struggle. Ohio Holistic Dental Center offers high-quality CEREC same-day custom crowns and traditional crowns to restore your smile's function and beauty.
The Impact of Missing and Damaged Teeth
Even one missing tooth can shift the harmony of your bite, leading to a cascade of issues from difficulty chewing to the misalignment of remaining teeth. Damaged or decayed teeth can become sources of discomfort and embarrassment, undermining your dental health and confidence in your smile.
What Does a Crown Do?
A dental crown is a protective cap for a damaged or decayed tooth, effectively restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. Our dentist in Dayton may recommend a crown for the following reasons:
- Restore a broken tooth
- Stabilize a cracked tooth
- Protect a tooth with extensive decay
- Strengthen a tooth with a large filling
- Support dental bridgework
- Cover a dental implant
- Conceal a discolored or misshapen tooth
How Is a CEREC Crown Different?
Unlike traditional crowns fabricated in a custom dental lab, CEREC restorations are crafted in-house, within a single visit to our Dayton, OH, dental office. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics and uses CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) to create durable dental crowns. The benefits of CEREC include:
- No need for temporary crowns
- Single appointment restorations
- Precise digital impressions for a perfect fit
- Durable, tooth-colored ceramic materials
The CEREC Restoration Journey
Getting started with the CEREC restoration process begins with a thorough exam and then preparation of the affected tooth. Using leading-edge imaging technology, we craft a highly accurate 3-D model of your tooth, ensuring your new crown fits your bite perfectly.
The CEREC milling unit in our office then fabricates your custom crown from a ceramic block. This process can take 45 minutes to an hour, after which we bond the restoration to your tooth, and you'll leave us with your beautiful new crown securely in place.
Choosing Lab-Fabricated Crowns
For some patients, a lab-fabricated crown may be a better choice. This traditional process involves preparing the tooth and taking a digital impression used by a dental lab to create your new restoration. In the meantime, we'll place a temporary on the tooth to protect it, then have you return to our office to place the crown on your tooth when it's ready.
With proper care, including diligent oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, a crown can last 15 years or longer.
Do Broken or Missing Teeth Hold You Back?
We understand our patients' needs vary, so we offer options to provide the perfect solution for your situation. Whether you choose a CEREC crown or the lab-fabricated version, you can be confident of high-quality, long-lasting results.
